Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how wogo ("wogo", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, stores, and protects personal information when you use https://joinwogo.com, the wogo website, the wogo mobile application, and any related services that link to this Privacy Policy.

wogo is currently operated as an early-stage product by an individual founder/developer and has not yet been incorporated as a separate legal entity. If this changes, we will update this Privacy Policy with the relevant legal entity details.

By using wogo, you agree that your information will be handled as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, you should not use the website, mobile application, or related services.

1. Who we are and how to contact us

wogo is a mobile-first discovery and planning service for restaurants, cafés, dhabas, highway food stops, scenic food spots, weekend destinations, and similar places. The public-facing brand name is wogo.

For privacy questions, account deletion requests, data rights requests, or concerns about how your information is handled, you can contact us at support@joinwogo.com.

2. Scope of this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the wogo website, mobile application, waitlist pages, invite links, account features, place discovery features, review and photo features, restaurant/place owner features, sponsored placement features, and related services that link to this Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites, apps, restaurants, cafés, places, app stores, map providers, social platforms, payment providers, or other services that we do not own or control. Those third parties may process your information according to their own privacy policies.

3. Information we collect

We collect information that you provide directly, information generated when you use the website or app, and information received from third-party services used to operate, secure, analyze, and improve wogo.

3.1 Account and contact information

Depending on how you use wogo, we may collect:

  • Name, email address, phone number, username, display name, and profile photo.
  • Account registration details, login details, and authentication method.
  • One-time password or verification-related information for phone number login.
  • Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In information where you choose to use those login methods.
  • Communication preferences, notification preferences, and marketing preferences.
  • Support requests, feedback, survey responses, and messages you send to us.

3.2 Restaurant owner and place owner information

If you use wogo as a restaurant owner, café owner, place owner, manager, or representative, we may collect information needed to create, verify, manage, or update your owner account and related place listings. This may include your name, contact details, role, place relationship, business details, and information you submit about the place.

3.3 User content and community contributions

When you use community features, we may collect content you submit, including:

  • Reviews, ratings, comments, tags, and place recommendations.
  • Photos and media uploaded for places, listings, reviews, or experiences.
  • Place suggestions, edits, reports, correction requests, and moderation reports.
  • Visit plans, invite links, invitation responses, suggested alternatives, and plan activity.
  • Any other content or information you choose to submit through the app or website.

3.4 Contacts and invitation information

If you allow contact access, we may access contact details on your device to help you invite friends, share plans, or send invitation links. We may also process phone numbers or other contact details that you manually enter or select for invitation purposes.

We do not sell your contacts. We do not share your phone number or your contact list with restaurants, cafés, places, sponsors, or other users unless you choose to share that information yourself or give us permission to do so.

3.5 Location information

wogo is a location-based discovery service. If you allow location access, we may collect precise GPS location while you are using the app. We may also collect approximate location from your IP address, device settings, or selected map location.

Location information may be used to show nearby places, calculate distance, display map results, recommend relevant places, support location picking, help with navigation handoff, and verify whether a review or rating is connected to a real visit.

3.6 Technical, usage, analytics, and diagnostic information

When you visit the website or use the app, we and our service providers may automatically collect technical and usage information, including:

  • IP address, device identifiers, advertising identifiers where enabled, and app instance IDs.
  • Browser type, operating system, device type, screen size, language settings, and app version.
  • Pages viewed, app screens visited, links clicked, session duration, referral URLs, and feature usage.
  • Crash reports, diagnostics, performance data, security logs, and error logs.
  • Cookie identifiers, local storage, SDK events, pixels, tags, and similar tracking technology data.

3.7 Payment and billing information

We do not currently collect payment, subscription, or billing details in the MVP. If paid features, restaurant sponsorship billing, subscriptions, in-app payments, table payments, or similar payment features are introduced later, we will update this Privacy Policy before or when those features become available.

4. Location data and visit verification

wogo uses location to help you discover nearby restaurants, cafés, dhabas, scenic food spots, highway stops, weekend destinations, and similar places. Location helps us calculate distance, show map-based results, suggest relevant places, and improve local discovery.

We may use your location at the time you submit a review, rating, or visit-related action to determine whether the visit can be marked as verified. For visit verification, our goal is to store the verification result, such as verified or unverified, rather than storing your exact visit coordinates with the review.

In the MVP, we do not intend to collect continuous background location data. In the future, we may introduce optional background or passive location-based features, such as notifying you about nearby places, recommendations, or promotions while you are travelling. If we introduce those features, we will request the required device permissions, explain the feature clearly, and update this Privacy Policy where required.

You can disable location access at any time through your device settings. Some nearby discovery, map, distance, recommendation, and visit verification features may not work properly without location access.

5. Device permissions

Depending on the features you use, the mobile app may request access to certain device permissions. These permissions may include:

  • Location: used to show nearby places, calculate distance, support maps, recommend relevant places, and verify visits.
  • Camera and photos: used to let you take or upload photos for places, listings, reviews, recommendations, and experiences.
  • Contacts: used to help you invite friends, share visit plans, or send invite links where you grant permission.
  • Notifications: used to send account alerts, invitation updates, plan updates, reminders, service messages, launch updates, feature announcements, and promotional messages where permitted.

You can manage these permissions through your device settings. If you deny or disable a permission, the related feature may not be available or may work with limited functionality.

6. User contributions and public content

wogo is a community-driven discovery app. When you submit reviews, ratings, photos, place suggestions, tags, comments, reports, or similar content, some of that content may be shown publicly or to other users inside the app.

Your display name, profile image, contribution history, verification status, or other profile details may also be shown with your public contributions, depending on the feature.

Please do not upload private, confidential, unlawful, sensitive, or harmful information about yourself or other people. We may review, restrict, remove, preserve, or moderate content where needed for safety, abuse prevention, fake review prevention, legal compliance, dispute handling, or service integrity.

7. Visit plans, invite links, and group activity

If you create or join a visit plan, we may process information such as the selected place, planned date or time, invite link, invitation status, suggested alternatives, and participating users.

People who receive an invite link may be able to view limited information about the plan and respond to the invitation, depending on the feature and link settings. You should share invite links only with people you want to invite to the plan.

Chat is not part of the MVP, but if messaging or chat features are introduced in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy to explain how those messages are handled.

These tools may use cookies, tags, SDKs, app instance IDs, device information, usage events, and similar technologies.

11. Sponsored listings, advertisements, and promotions

wogo may show sponsored restaurants, cafés, places, offers, or promotions. Sponsored content will be clearly labeled as "Sponsored" or "Ad." Sponsored placement does not mean that a place is organically top-rated or independently recommended by the community.

Sponsored listings may be shown based on factors such as your location, app activity, preferences, past visits, place categories, and likely interest. We may use this information to avoid showing irrelevant sponsored listings and to highlight places that may be useful to you.

We do not share your phone number, email address, precise location, or contact list with sponsored restaurants, cafés, place owners, or advertisers unless you choose to contact them, share information with them, or give us permission to do so.

12. How we share information

We do not sell personal information in the ordinary meaning of selling it for money. We may share information only in limited circumstances, including:

We may process, store, and transfer personal information in India and other countries where we or our service providers operate.
